Always test your yo-yo whenever possible. If you are buying in a store, try it out first before paying for it. If you are buying it from a mail order business, test it out immediately upon receipt. Most stores have very strict policies on returns and will refer you to the manufacturer if there are problems.

You should always check and verify the shipment time for an order. If it is not stated, ask! Some yo-yos are in extremely limited supply so some dealers may not have any in stock.

Check the method of delivery. U.S. Priority Mail is not insured. Some companies will use this method because it is less expensive. However if a package is lost, you are out of luck.

Always pay with a credit card when ordering by mail. Sending a check, money order or (cash) gives you very little protection if the order is lost or delayed. They have your money and it is very difficult to get it back.

When placing an order on the Internet with a credit card, make sure you are using a secured server. Some companies will set up a form and request your credit card number. Do not press SEND unless you can verify that it is a secured or encrypted transmission.
